Tis the season for heavy training! Daddy is on his third ride and is an NO exception to the Heartland standards to the Solberg breeding program. He's walking and trotting backing and being amazing! Joe and Max are at Grant Kringens being trained to team drive, Kadie and Brice went and drove them and had nothing but good to say about them. Aces Thyme and Dakota Chief are still in Florida and training great with David Mikosz and also have a prospective buyer looking at Aces Thyme!! Its beginning to be a Super Fantastic training season!!

Courtney was discharged from the hospital last week and believes she is fully recovered. She is slowely getting stronger, but it will still be a while before she "fully recovers". Operations are strong as we stay warm in our indoor arena. Daddy is really moving along with his training! He was saddled today and was a trooper about it. This week we continue to move forward we have the farrier here as well as getting regular updates on Joe and Max as they are busy at bootcamp getting trained to team drive. Snow has graced us only a few times this year as it lays a very thin blanket upon Heartland. Come join us for lessons, riding, or just come out and see the facility! Come see why we love it here so much!

Ready for the heat? We're cranking it up this week! With heat indexs in the lower triple digits, we ask that you and your horse take a few precautions this week while out playing around.

Use sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 15 or higher.

Drink PLENTY of water! Hydration is key to maintaining body tempurature.

Use bug spray, to prevent any insect transmitted diseases or infections carried by them.

Take many short breaks to prevent exhaustion and heat stroke.

Wear light, loose clothes to help with sweat evaporation.

Wide brimmed hats help the neck and back area from warming to extreme tempuratures and also helps protect the eyes from harmful radiation.

    News on the farm:

Lovespell and filly ( x Noble Cause) are now out in pasture and enjoying the sunshine and fresh air.

We recently had an overnight boarder that graced us with their presence of 3 beautiful Tennessee Walkers.

Heartland will be hosting a booth at Sioux Falls' Family Fest at the Fairgrounds. Please come join us, bring the family and enjoy the food, music and entertainment! Many vendors, and lots to see!

Babies, Babies, Babies everywhere! We have completed our foaling season, and we saved the best for last! Lovespell foaled a healthy chestnut filly (out of A Noble Cause) May 27th. We now have an amazing new flock this year, 2 colts and 2 fillies! Outdoor Arena is 80% dont and we can thank our interns (Rob & Adency) and dry weather for helping with that. We have a few more panels to go and some more sand and its ready to ride in! Rob and Adency are joining us for a short while and are hopefully enjoying Heartland as much as we are enjoying them! We welcome Stacy Eckert-Gorham to the Heartland team as she assumes her position as additional trainer. She has many years experience in cross country, jumping, dressage and english classes! She teaches lessons and has had experience in summer camps. Also joining our team this month Kadie who came from a retail facility and is a avid barrel racer and does some cattle work as well! Carol is a volunteer at a theraputic riding center and has horses of her own. Welcome to our new employees! Have a safe weekend!

Courtney has passed her level 2 Onlline Parelli audition!! With a 2+!! We are so proud of you Courtney!

Despite the best efforts of South Dakota weather, training at Heartland continues. What a blessing to have a heated indoor arena (thanks Jayne and Lloyd!). In addition to getting many Heartland Parelli Levels auditions filmed recently, our sale horses have been making great progress. Starlite has been learning ‘sideways towards’ and enjoys showing off her pretty online jumping form. She will be filming a Level 3 Online very soon. Under saddle Starlite has been coming along very well, too. She has a beautiful trot, and is a very responsive horse.  After a successful show career, and a few years spent catering to the ladies,  Spellcaster has come out of retirement to try his hand, er, hoof, at this Parelli stuff. Not suprisingly, he is a quick study learning the Seven Games and even being ridden bareback for the first time!Heidi  and firecracker have been learning about being ridden bareback, too, but for these 3 year old fillies, it’s the first time they have been ridden! they are very smart, good girls (and gorgeous, of course!) with excellent ground skills- they clip, load in the trailer, are very good about having their feet handled, and know all 7 of the games. Gold Dust has really been impressing everyone with her under saddle abilities. What an athlete! She is going to be an outstanding western performance horse.
